"Das Boot"
A little update: This is one of the last pictures of it as they now deconstructed it - they fear that they have to pay high licence fees now.
Visiting the last home of Gudrun Ensslin
We visited the last home of Gudrun Ensslin today. Her apartment was quite spacey and the entrance could be locked very securely.
They rebuilt the cell complex that has been built for the caught members of the left wing extremist group RAF in Stuttgart-Stammheim in the Bavaria Filmstadt in Munich.
It's quite impressing to see this. They built this part of the prison just for these prisoners.

Oktoberfest III
Just some impressions from the inside of the tent "Winzerer Fändl" which serves Paulaner Beer. We arrived there at around 11 in the morning and there were plent of seats left. When we left after 1 pm it was nearly full. We both had a beer (1 beer here means 1 liter) and bavarian sausages (because it was before noon!).

Oktoberfest 2008 II
Some impressions of the fun part of the Oktoberfest. If you had enough beer you can easily get rid of it by taking one of these rides...
Don't be too close to them in the late evening.

Oktoberfest 2008
The Oktoberfest in Munich started again yesterday. We visited it today at noon.
Sundays are not so busy so it's not such a big problem with the kids car.

Maibaum
This is the traditional Bavarian "Maibaum" (May tree) at Viktualienmarkt in Munich. It's a donation from the breweries of Munich.
Munich Airport
U-Bahn
After a little break (sorry for that) I'll try to continue with some blog posts. Above you can see the subway waiting in the terminal station OEZ (Olympia Einkaufszentrum) of line 3.

Christmas Tree II
It was nice to have a Christmas tree and I guess we'll have one next year. The only bad thing is that I still have to pack 100 lamps from the tree decoration.

Merry Christmas!
I wish you all a nice Christmas!
We have internet access for some days now and I'm busy to get everything sorted out in our new apartment.
And I need to prepare our Christmas tree - which is nice work. :-)

A video from the first day of the Oktoberfest in Munich. The "bang" in the background is the official start signal.

Messestadt Riem

Some impressions from the newly developed area "Messestadt Riem", which is situated on the old Munich airport.

Oktoberfest continued

It's really impressive how many people visit the Oktoberfest and how big the "tents" are. 10.000 people drinking beer in one big tent!
But in the evening it can get quite bad if you don't watch up. Still one of the most fascinating festivals I've ever been!
I would also upload a video but YouTube is doing some maintenance and I don't want to spend too much time in the internet cafe.

Greetings from the Oktoberfest

It's Oktoberfest in Munich and the weather on the first day was fantastic.
These are some impressions from the festival area. I also went one evening with my coworkers but I don't think I can show any pictures from this evening here...

Big changes happening
Unbeliveable but already tomorrow we'll drive to Munich. We packed some suitcases (biiiig ones!) and quite a few boxes and I just hope I'll fit everything into the car tomorrow.
I will take a picture of the fully loaded car then. I bought a car trunk fence so that I can load above window level without risking the lives of the whole family (you don't want to have luggage pieces flying around in the car hitting a head). I bought a station wagon but with two people and a baby you don't have many options in extending the trunk.
Some old news make me worried about reaching my family while on vacation. It's normally one of the easiest possibilites to reach them when they are in China. Else I'll have to buy a phone card or search some stupid predial number.

Munich
Some pictures from our trip to Munich. The weather was very nice but we only had very short time and our baby also demanded her time.
A very nice city!
