Satellite Dishes
Just a little news item - maybe this helps a bit to understand some things here in China.
The main point of this article is:
Satellite dishes are legally allowed only in hotels above three stars, office buildings and apartments designed for foreigners.
We have satellite programs but our compound is designated for foreigners. This is one of the main differences between an apartment designed for foreigner (expensive) and a normal one (really cheap).
Another news item from yesterday was the ban of foreign cartoons in TV from 5 to 8 pm to "protect the Chinese cartoon industry".
And we also shouldn't forget the fact that not more than 20 foreign movies per year are allowed in Cinemas. And quite a few of these are really bad and cheap movies.
